Moving within Switzerland

If you’re changing addresses within Switzerland, including within the same city, Swiss Post provides a mail forwarding service to redirect your letters and parcels to your new location.

• Duration options: 6, 12, or 18 months.
• Start date: forwarding can commence as early as the next working day.
• Ordering methods: online via the Swiss Post portal or in person at a post office.
• Fees: prices start at CHF 35.00 for a 6-month online order. Additional fees apply for parcels, extra persons, companies and express orders.
• Excluded items: consignments with a poste restante or military address, innight consignments that are delivered on parcel carrier rounds only, PromoPost consignments, free newspapers and consignments from other delivery organizations.

Moving abroad

For those relocating outside Switzerland, Swiss Post offers international mail forwarding services.

• Duration: 12 months.
• Start date: forwarding can begin as early as the next working day.
• Ordering methods: online or at a Swiss Post branch.
• Fees: CHF 90.00 for online orders. Additional charges apply for extra persons or companies and express orders.
• Excluded items: court documents, debt collection documents, parcels, letters with small goods, consignments with military addresses.

Important considerations

• Advance notice: it’s advisable to place your forwarding order at least four working days before your move.
• Good to know: debt collection documents are only forwarded within the debt collection district.
• Delivery time: forwarded mail may take an additional working day to arrive at your new address.
• Notification of move: Swiss Post offers a free service to inform participating companies (e.g., insurers, banks) of your new address, ensuring you remain reachable to your contractual partners.
